Education is a major factor in determining whether our children and our nation succeed in today’s increasingly competitive global economy. As a country, we need to do a better job of supporting teachers, giving them the resources they need to provide the best possible environment for teaching our children.

 

We have seen how severe state and federal budget cuts led by Republicans undermine the ability of our local school districts to provide a quality education for our children; this has resulted in overcrowded classrooms, overburdened and stressed teachers, and inadequate support services like special education, after-school care and preschool programs. 

 

I will work relentlessly to improve and expand our children’s opportunity to access a quality education. Investing in education is an investment into our economy, our quality of life and most importantly it is an investment into our children’s future.
