What we need is Medicare for All. We need it now. I will fight to make sure that every single person in this nation is covered 100% - that no lives will be at risk due to access or affordability. While we saw some great things come out of the Affordable Care Act (ACA, also known as Obamacare) that was just a first step.

 

One of the well-known successes of the ACA was the Medicare expansion, and we must build on the strengths of the Medicare system. Medicare has seen many expansions since its implementation over 50 years ago. Working on this expansion would create a federally administered single-payer health care program for all Americans. We would finally separate employment from providing healthcare, allowing employers to focus on their businesses so that they can thrive and help the economy. The American worker can negotiate for salary, no longer taking less pay in exchange for coverage, where they are still burdened by copays and unreasonable deductibles. It means that you can go to the doctor not just in case of emergencies, but get the preventative care that you and your family needs, and afford it!    

 

We would move from the 3-tier model of insurance that we currently have in the US, to just one model, tax and revenue. The taxes would be based on income. Medicare would continue to be funded by payroll tax and the individual would pay their fair share based off a responsible income tier, which translates to less out of the pockets of the working class.
